- YieldMakes about 4 1/2 dozen
Ingredients:
All-purpose flour, for work surface
- 1 Large Egg
- 2 pounds (about 60) mini hot dogs
- 1 box (17 1/2 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
- Mustard, for serving
- Ketchup, for serving
Directions:
1. Preheat Oven for 450 degrees
2. Lightly dust working surface with flour and roll out thawed Puff Pastry dough.(I only used one sheet since I cute the recipe in half)
3. Roll into a thin 14-by-11-inch rectangle. Cut lengthwise into 1 1/2-inch wide strips. Cut each long strip in half to roll the dog in.
5. Since I did not have mini cocktail dogs I used normal lengthwise hot dogs. I Cut up hot dogs into 3 equal parts. Since I cut the recipe in half I had about 36 mini dogs.
4. Roll to enclose, brushing with some of the beaten egg to close and stick together; transfer to prepared baking sheet. Repeat process with remaining hot dogs and pastry. Brush the tops of puff pastry with egg once completed. I also poked holes on the dogs and on the puf pastry so that they would not inflate so much.
5.Transfer baking sheets to oven and bake until puffed and golden, about 20 minutes. Let cool briefly before serving with mustard and ketchup or any other dip you would like to use.
My sister also made chocolate and Oreo pudding, covered it with crushed chocolate cookies and used gummy worms to make it look like worms and dirt! Very creative and yummy. She placed each dessert in mini shot glass cups to personalize them.
Lastly, a party wouldn't be complete without some chips and dip!
I carved out a mini pumpkin and placed an already made spinach dip to come out of the mouth opening! Creepy but awesome! I bought some blue corn tortilla chips to continue on the spooky theme!
